Overview
Veïnat combines a bioclimatic office with emergency housing, as a direct response to the need for fast, dignified shelter after events like Valencia's DANA flooding. Modular, bioclimatic architecture in service of a real emergency.

Why it exists
After events like Valencia's 2024 DANA flooding, thousands of people were immediately left without dignified shelter. Azalea is developing modular architecture capable of rapid deployment, built on bioclimatic and sustainability principles, conceived as a real response to a climate emergency that has already happened — not an academic exercise.

Deployment in Chiva
According to Azalea's own team, Veïnat is intended to be deployed as an auxiliary health centre for the municipality of Chiva. A real project for a new auxiliary health centre in Calicanto (Chiva) does exist, driven by Chiva's municipal government and Hospital de Manises, that would serve Calicanto and nearby urbanizations (Sierra Perenchiza, El Bosque, La Loma) — confirmed by independent regional press. That press coverage, however, never mentions Azalea or UPV: Veïnat's specific link to this centre is, for now, the team's own account, not a fact confirmed by independent municipal or health-service sources. This page will be updated once that public confirmation exists.

The dual-use concept
Veïnat combines two uses in a single modular architecture: a bioclimatic office in ordinary use, and emergency housing when the situation requires it. This adaptability is the core of the project — building once to serve two real needs, so the infrastructure never sits idle waiting for an emergency, but instead serves a continuous public function.

System composition
Veïnat is composed of one rehabilitated shipping container, serving as the services core, and four habitation/coliving modules, with an accessible ramp to ease assembly and access. Per the team's basic structural plan (February 2026), the assembly occupies a footprint of approximately 15.00 × 10.45 m.

Material execution of the excavation and foundations is delegated to an external contractor under municipal oversight — Azalea's role is administrative coordination, institutional accompaniment and punctual technical supervision, not direct execution with a permanent on-site workforce.

Phase III — Rapid assembly, envelope & commissioning
The final rapid-assembly milestone on the Chiva site. Since the module arrives nearly complete from the workshop, the task sequence is intentionally agile and chained, with built-in time buffers between interventions to absorb adverse weather, logistics incidents or necessary corrections — the goal is a watertight structure as early as possible, then completing systems, finishes and cleaning within the planned window.
